Support

Raytool support covers the parts and checks that keep sheet-metal cutting heads working cleanly. From Spartan, Kempton Park, we carry out bench repairs, on-site alignment and supply consumables for shops in Johannesburg, Pretoria, Durban, Cape Town and Rustenburg.

Bench service for cutting heads that need careful hands

Our bench service covers cutting heads that need inspection, cleaning and reassembly under controlled conditions. We look at seals, internal contamination, seating surfaces and the parts that affect beam path and cut quality. That includes heads that have picked up crash marks, dust ingress or wandering focus behaviour.

  • Head strip and rebuild on the bench
  • Crash damage inspection and sealing checks
  • Gas path inspection for leaks, dirt and worn fittings

Where the head can still be recovered, we set it up for steady use on sheet-metal work. If the damage is deeper, the conversation shifts to what can be repaired and what should be replaced.

On-site alignment where the machine is already installed

Some alignment issues only show up on the machine bed, with the cutting head running through its full travel and height-sensing range. On-site work helps when nozzle centring drifts, the cut edge changes across the sheet, or the sensor starts reading unevenly. We work with the machine in place, so the checks reflect the actual cutting conditions on that floor.

  • Nozzle centring and focus setting check
  • Capacitive sensor check and height-sensing review
  • Gas path inspection and head seal checks

That mix matters on busy fabrication floors where a head may look fine on the bench but behave differently under live cutting conditions.

Consumables that shape cut quality

Small parts make a large difference on fibre laser cutting work. A nozzle with the wrong orifice, a scratched protective window, or a tired ceramic ring can throw off the cut and waste material. We supply single layer and double layer nozzles, focus and collimator lenses, protective windows and ceramic rings for routine replacement.

  • Single layer and double layer nozzles
  • Focus lenses and collimator lenses
  • Protective windows and ceramic rings

Keeping the right spares on hand helps shops stay consistent when cutting thin sheet, mixed gauges or reflective material.

Cleaning routines that protect the optics

Lens cleaning and window care need a light hand, clean tools and the right sequence. Dust, spatter and fine fumes can settle on the optical path, then turn into heat marks or poor beam transmission if they are left too long. We work through the cleaning routine with the parts removed, inspected and fitted back with care.

A clean head is not only about appearance. It helps protect the lens stack, keeps the focus position steady and reduces the chance of recurring faults after a previous repair.

When a head starts to drift on focus or height

Focus settings and capacitive height sensing sit close together in day to day cutting. If the head is reading height badly, the nozzle can run too high or too low and the beam starts to lose its sweet spot. The result is rough edges, dross or a cut that varies from one side of the sheet to the next.

Our support checks the settings against the actual machine behaviour, then looks at the sensor, the nozzle condition and the optical parts together. That is usually the best way to find the fault instead of chasing one symptom at a time.

People in the Spartan team who handle the work

Raytool support comes from a compact team that understands what a proper repair needs. Marius Johannes van der Merwe leads the business, while Thandiwe Rapetswa coordinates operations and parts movement. Bench work, field alignment and support calls are handled by technicians who deal with these heads and consumables every day.

  • Jaco Essop for bench service work
  • Lerato Tau for field alignment
  • Anele Daniels for parts sales and stock support
  • Willem Pretorius for technical support

That structure helps keep the job practical, whether the need is one nozzle, a lens set, or a full head inspection.
